Glastonbury Festival 2014

Despite the weather and extreme survival conditions, Glastonbury is always amazing. This year, however, was particularly exciting as I got to perform not only ‘Atma’, but also 2 of my most recent hoop acts. ‘Black Out Days’ was specifically devised for the Circus Big Top and, although it was presented as work in progress, it received very positiveContinue reading “Glastonbury Festival 2014”

‘Atma’, 3 years later

This time last year, I was around on the Southbank a lot, performing in Circus Maximus, as part of the Udderbelly Festival. It was such a fun and intense month! My dear and awesome friend Jon Green came down to film me during the first Heat of the competition. So this is my ‘Atma’, 3 years later.

The Hypnotic Honies of Hula

Together with the lovely Jessie Rose, I created a new glow hoop piece that we performed at the Bloomsbury Big Top as part of a series of Christmas shows, produced by Sorcha Ra, last December 2013. This is a 1920’s, Great Gatsby inspired piece, set to a modern, fast paced and fun electro-swing soundtrack.  AnyContinue reading “The Hypnotic Honies of Hula”

The Jarvis Party

Jarvis Cocker LOVES hua hoops – FACT. After jamming with him at the Village Underground in 2009, as part of his 3-day ‘Exhibition of himself’, I had the absolute pleasure to perform for the very wonderful Jarvis Cocker’s 50th birthday party. Jarvis personally asked me to perform to Krafterk’s classic ‘Ruckzuck’, which was a great fun challenge,Continue reading “The Jarvis Party”

Glastonbury Festival 2013

An even bigger, even better Circus Big Top was my home for a week at Glastonbury Festival 2013. Once again, it was an absolute pleasure to share the stage with so many incredibly talented performers, coming from all over the world. In fact, thanks also to what was probably the warmest English summer in years,Continue reading “Glastonbury Festival 2013”

‘Gynoid’ Photoshoot

In ‘Gynoid’ I’m exploring movement and manipulation, as well as the relation between the machine and the human body, through hula hoops. How is our body affected by the props and tools, that we use every day? If our body is the main tool, the machine, what can influence and radically transform its appearance andContinue reading “‘Gynoid’ Photoshoot”

‘OnOffice’ Magazine Feature

Anywhere can be an office. In September 2012, I collaborated with the talented Andrew Meredith, on a feature for OnOffice Magazine. OnOffice is a design magazine about workplace design, whether it is architecture, interiors or furniture. Every month they dedicate a piece to the more unusual workplaces and the people who use them. Whether a sky divingContinue reading “‘OnOffice’ Magazine Feature”

Francesca Martello and I wanted to explore the possibilities of circus,Continue reading “Hoop manipulators”

Hula Hooping Bon Bons at Fortnum & Mason

Is it possible to fit eight hula hoopers, with 50 hoops each, in one of the world’s oldest, poshest department stores? Hell yeah! In the run – up to Christmas 2010, I had the opportunity to work with some of the best hoopers in London (including Craig Reid, Jessie Rose and Tiina Tuomisto), performing as partContinue reading “Hula Hooping Bon Bons at Fortnum & Mason”
